Blog #10

Data collection as a teacher is essential, especially in the system we have now which relies on the data collected from tests, and surveys to determine the effectiveness and capabilities as a teacher. For my class I would use it to determine how to direct my teaching, and work for my students. I believe classrooms should be a collaboration between students and teachers, and therefore they should have some kind of say in their work, the same objects, just different paths to get there. 9th and 10th graders are more than capable of communicating these ideas, and filling out surveys about homework, types of projects, and essays for our English class.

When viewing my classmates pages I found it interesting how differently they would see the same assignments. These blogs have been a unique way of communicating with my classmates and engaging with them about the course content. The topics I found most interesting where ones where they shared their projects, just as I had, so I was able to see what kind of work they were doing versus me.

After finishing this class I would like to work with more software, such as budgeting software, adobe photoshop, and other worksheet software to keep up with grades. I want to learn these skills because I know that they are useful in todays world, as well as for personal improvement reasons. I will achieve these goals by using the resources open to me as a students, such as Lynda.com, friends, and classes that offer these skills.
